Lore
Crimson space is rich in ore and poor in ice. The Shattered Comet Graves at Krynn produce the weakest ice yields in settled space, and waiting for Nebula supply contracts was never strategically acceptable. The Permafrost solves this with speed — a default afterburner pushes it to the fastest industrial hull in Crimson service, built to reach ice fields in neutral space and strip them before anyone organizes a response. Pull the afterburner and the fuel tank stretches to real range, turning the ship into a long-haul ice runner instead. The hold is small either way, so the Fleet runs Permafrost sorties in rotation. One weapon mount keeps claim disputes brief.
