Lore
Out on the Rim, waiting for a shuttle back is not a plan. The Nomad-class was built by confederates who kept losing time running empty ships home after a job, and solved it by building a carrier that could keep up — roughly. It is not fast. No carrier is fast. But it is the least slow, which counts for a lot when fuel costs money and pirates have patrol routes. Eight bays, four utility slots for whatever the crew jury-rigged this week, and enough fuel reserve to make a long crossing without stopping. The Nomad does not have a home base. That is the point.
