Isotope shipments moving under Fleet protection kept being boarded, inspected, and — on two occasions — destroyed. The Fleet considered all three outcomes unacceptable. The Warhead-class was the response: two weapon mounts, warship-grade armor certified to active combat standards, and a lead-lined cargo bay rated to Fleet ordnance specifications, which exceed civilian equivalents by a margin other empires are not permitted to audit.
