The Venture-class was designed for the Federation's market development division: find new systems, assess their commercial potential, bring samples back for valuation. The fuel reserves support 60-jump survey runs deep into unmapped space, and the cargo hold — the largest on any exploration platform — means the scout returns with enough material for proper market analysis, not just sensor readings. The open weapon slot and defense mount acknowledge that unmapped space is not always empty, and the fitting budget lets pilots configure for the risk profile of each survey run. The operations manual opens with: "Discovery is just commerce that hasn't happened yet."
