Lore
Most Crimson hulls are built to be replaced. The Partisan is built to be earned. It is a sliver of a ship — barely more than a cockpit, a reactor, and three weapon mounts strapped to an engine that has no business being that size. There is no armor worth the name and almost no margin for error, and that is by design: the Partisan is flown by pilots who have already proven they do not make errors. In the right hands it is impossible to pin and impossible to ignore, slipping inside a cruiser's guard, opening it up, and gone before the return fire arrives. In the wrong hands it is a brief and expensive smear. The Fleet keeps the piloting requirement deliberately punishing. A Partisan handed to a rookie is a Partisan thrown away, and the Fleet does not throw away the few ships it actually respects.
