| ☀ | Sirius A | Sun | A1V | 0.0 | (0.0, 0.0) | — | — | The brightest star in Earth's night sky, and humanity's second colony system. The Solarian Confederacy chose it for their primary research campus — prestige location for prestige science. |
| ● | Research Campus | Planet | terran | 1.0 | (1.0, 0.3) | — | — | The Confederacy's scientific crown jewel. University complexes, research laboratories, and lecture halls spread across the temperate zones. More doctoral theses are defended here per year than anywhere else in human space. |
| ⬡ | Sirius Observatory Station | Station | — | 1.5 | (1.5, 0.3) | — | — | The Confederacy's research hub. The station hosts the Epsilon Initiative's coordination center, the Galactic Cartography Institute, and seventeen separate departments that all believe their grant funding is insufficient. The cantina doubles as an academic conference venue, and arguments about stellar formation models get louder than combat alerts. |
| ● | Observatory Plateau | Planet | arid | 2.0 | (2.0, -0.3) | — | — | A dry, thin-atmosphered world ideal for ground-based astronomy. Telescope arrays cover the equatorial highlands. The Epsilon Initiative operates its primary data center here. |
| ☁ | Sirius Gas Pocket | Gas Cloud | molecular_cloud | 5.6 | (5.5, 1.2) | — | — | Hydrogen and argon harvested to power the system's extensive research infrastructure. The extraction operation is run by graduate students, which explains both its efficiency and its creative interpretation of safety regulations. |

Station Log
You dock at Sirius Observatory Station. The Confederacy's research hub. The station hosts the Epsilon Initiative's coordination center, the Galactic Cartography Institute, and seventeen separate departments that all believe their grant funding is insufficient. The cantina doubles as an academic conference venue, and arguments about stellar formation models get louder than combat alerts. The station has the following facilities: - Power Grid: Distributed power generation with redundant feeds and surge protection. Not today. Redundant feeds have failed, leaving single-point power paths. Surge protection is offline — every spike risks cascade failure. - Habitat Core: Comprehensive environmental management supporting larger populations and diverse species. At least, when supplies hold out. Sensor arrays flash yellow warnings, some habitat zones show declining air quality, and filtration membranes need replacement. - Fuel Distribution Center: High-throughput fueling infrastructure with pipeline distribution and reserve tanks. Not anymore. Pipeline pressure fluctuates, reserve tanks are dangerously low, and the facility struggles to meet demand. - Restoration Works: Industrial repair facility with automated hull assessment and multi-bay operations. At least, when supplies hold out. Automated scanners are offline, technicians assess damage by eye, and wait times stretch across multiple cycles. - Commerce Hub: Full-service trading center with dedicated broker terminals and escrow services. Today, though, broker terminals cycle through error screens. Escrow settlement is backed up, and traders argue over stale quotes. ...and 22 more facilities.
