Wars run on fuel, and the Morningstar keeps Crimson fleets moving. The default armor plate drops it to a crawl, but tankers don't need speed — they need to survive the trip. The heaviest hull in the Crimson T2 lineup protects fuel tanks that keep an entire strike group operational. Losing a tanker loses the operation, so the Fleet armors them like warships and assigns escorts that know better than to leave formation. The Morningstar's secondary role as a mobile fuel depot makes it one of the few Crimson ships that turns a profit without firing a shot: stranded pilots in deep space pay whatever the captain asks. Fleet accountants call this "field-expedient pricing."
