In the Crimson Fleet, cowardice isn't running from a fight — it's letting someone else run from one. The Pike exists to ensure that doesn't happen. Oversized engines on an armored frame give it speed 5 to catch anything that tries to disengage, and 13 points of effective armor keep it intact through the return fire. The two autocannons won't win a damage race against a dedicated brawler like the Cleaver, but that's not the point — the Pike holds targets in place until heavier firepower arrives. Crimson instructors call it "the leash." Pilots who ask what happens if heavier firepower doesn't arrive get assigned extra leash duty.
