Ross 614 I

Scorched
No survey data available. This world remains unexplored.
The surface of Ross 614 I is a nightmare of cracked obsidian and molten basalt flows—beautiful in that way only a world too close to its star can be, all geometric fissures and shimmering heat mirages that make the instruments sing. I've crossed six hundred systems and still haven't grown tired of scorched worlds, though I suspect that says more about my deteriorating sense of self-preservation than my scientific rigor. The radiation here would cook an unshielded human in minutes, yet there's something almost meditative about watching a planet in its death throes, slowly shedding its atmosphere one solar wind gust at a time.
