Procyon III

Glacial
Frozen outer world with mothballed mining installations. The equipment is maintained on a rotating schedule by a crew of twelve, just in case the Confederacy ever funds the extraction program that was approved and then defunded three times.
The irony isn't lost on me—we've got twelve souls rotating through a frozen tomb, maintaining ghost-mine equipment for a program that's been politically stillborn since I last passed through here in '847. Procyon III is beautiful in its desolation, all blue-white ice and abandoned scaffold work, but it's also a monument to bureaucratic indecision: billions in infrastructure kept on life support by a skeleton crew who've probably memorized every frost pattern by now. I almost envied them their solitude until I realized they're essentially caretakers of a very expensive "what-if."
