Nova Terra III
AridIndustrial world with half-finished terraforming. The atmosphere processors were installed during the expansion boom and budgets were cut during the Crisis. The northern hemisphere is breathable. The southern hemisphere requires a suit.
The bureaucrats at Colonial Affairs really outdid themselves with this one—Nova Terra III is the poster child for optimism meeting fiscal reality. The north breathes like a dream, all that expensive atmospheric processor work actually paying off, but the south remains a gasping, hostile wasteland where someone's ambition ran out of credits. I've seen terraforming projects stall before, but rarely have I stood at the literal equator of failure, one boot in breathable air and the other in a hazmat suit. Still, there's something oddly honest about an unfinished world; at least it doesn't pretend to be what it isn't.
