Deepwell I

Scorched

Deepwell I lived up to its cheerful name—a cinder of a world locked in a death-spiral toward its star, with surface temperatures that would vaporize half my ship's hull plating if I got within fifty klicks. Not much to survey here except the slowly cooking remains of what might have been a garden world a few million years ago, which only made the desolation feel heavier. I logged the atmospheric composition for the archives and moved on, reminding myself that not every discovery needs to be magnificent to be worth recording.
