Whitecliff II reminds me why I stopped accepting assignments to desert worlds—endless rust-colored plains, dust storms that could strip paint, and absolutely nothing that hasn't been catalogued a dozen times over by the cartography corps. The local mining concern swears the subsurface titanium deposits justify the settlement, but I suspect they're just as bored as I am. Still, I'll admit there's something almost meditative about watching a triple sunset paint those barren flats in shades of amber and violet; even tedium has its moments out here.
