Thuban III presents itself as achingly familiar—a blue-green marble with polar ice caps and temperate continental zones, the sort of world that makes you nostalgic for Earth even when you've never been there. The atmospheric readings are unremarkable, the geology predictable, yet there's something almost melancholy about it: a perfectly habitable world in a moderately trafficked system, surely surveyed a dozen times before me, destined to become either a colony or merely another footnote.
