Markab I strikes me as the sort of world that makes you wonder why the Survey Corps bothers filing reports—a perfectly adequate terrestrial ball with unremarkable silicate bedrock and enough iron oxide to keep a metallurgist occupied for an afternoon, nothing more. Yet there's something oddly settling about a planet that doesn't demand your attention, doesn't threaten to devour your ship or collapse spacetime around you. After six hundred systems, I've learned that not every discovery needs to be spectacular; sometimes the quiet ones remind you why the frontier was worth leaving home for in the first place.
