The crimson deserts of Garnet III live up to their reputation—vast, wind-scoured, and thoroughly uninspiring at first glance, until you notice how the iron oxides catch the light like a billion tiny rubies at sunset. I've mapped seventeen planets with similar geology, yet something about this one kept me scanning long after the preliminary surveys were done. No signs of life, no exotic phenomena, just rust and regret that I didn't pack more water for the surface team. Still, there's a stubborn beauty to desolation if you're foolish enough to look for it.
