Electra I

Scorched

Touched down on Electra I today—a sulphurous hellscape that somehow manages to be both scientifically fascinating and deeply unpleasant. The atmospheric composition is nearly pure nitrogen with choking clouds of sulphur dioxide that corroded two of my probe's seals before I pulled it back. I've mapped three distinct chemical reservoirs in the crust, and there's enough iron oxide in the bedrock to keep a dozen industrial colonies supplied for centuries, assuming anyone's mad enough to establish one here. Still, I found myself genuinely grateful for the recycled air in my ship's cabin—sometimes the sublime and the miserable wear the same face.
