Deneb II is precisely the sort of scorched, unremarkable world that makes long-haul surveying feel like penance—rust-colored dunes stretching to a perpetually hazy horizon, with nothing but silicon and iron oxides to show for three days of orbital mapping. Still, there's a certain austere beauty to it, the way the twin sunsets paint those badlands in shades of amber and rust; reminds me of Kepler-442b, though without the volcanic interest. I've logged it, noted the absence of volatiles or water ice, and we're moving on—the bureaucrats back at Station Seven will file it under "potential future mining interest" and promptly forget it exists.
