The ice sheets of 82 Eridani II stretch to every horizon like a frozen ocean, and I found myself genuinely unsettled by the beauty of it—the aurora alone would make the journey worthwhile, but beneath those sheets lies evidence of subsurface activity that shouldn't exist at this orbital distance. I've charted a dozen glacial worlds before, yet something about this one insisted on being taken seriously; the thermal signatures suggest hydrothermal vents, which means life. My instruments are screaming about it, and for once, bureaucracy can wait while I figure out what's living down there in the dark.
