Ships are grown in crystalline cradles shaped by probability fields. The Voidborn consider each vessel a unique sculpture.
Conventional shipyards cut, weld, and bolt. The Cradle grows. Probability fields coax hull alloys into shapes that shouldn't be structurally sound but demonstrably are. No two ships from the Cradle are identical at the molecular level, though they conform to standard class specifications. The Voidborn find mass production philosophically offensive.
